Threadhopping: yes. i'd appreciate a heads up, but i don't mind.
Fourthwalling: totally fine with recognizing him as a historical figure (though he's.. such an obscure crew member, why would you..), but not as a fictional one.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): none for me, but the parts of canon surrounding billy deal with themes of murder, cannibalism and period-typical homophobia (received) and racism (given). i will warn for these, but if you absolutely do not want to deal with any of them, please give me a heads up!

Hugging this character: fine with me, no need to give a heads up! billy will be very confused though, probably don't expect it to be returned, especially with ye olde standards of physical contact..
Kissing this character: see the above, but probably with an even worse outcome, unless there was some mutual flirting going on before it.
Flirting with this character: perfectly fine! please do keep in mind that billy is a homosexual man who has to deal with period-typical homophobia. this means he won't be outing his sexuality unless he's 100% he can trust someone else, or if he knows they are definitely queer too. he will receive flirting from women.. awkwardly... and try to avoid it.. the hard knock life of having to pretend you're straight, time to just receive that like he's a brick wall.
